FAQS

Q: What do I need to bring to my class?

A: Please wear comfortable, closed toe shoes and long pants. Aprons will be provided and long hair should be tied back. If you have a favourite knife, feel free to bring it with you- otherwise everything will be provided.

Q: What if I have allergies or dietary restrictions?

A: The essence of our classes is to provide a shared experience, as such it is difficult to guarantee that the menu will fit with each individuals needs. Please review the menu to see if the items suit your needs. If you still have questions, feel free to contact us. If one class doesn’t work for you, we likely have another menu that will -we also love suggestions, feel free to send us your ideas for menus and cuisines. For private events we are more able to accomodate allergies and restrictions!

Q: What if I cannot make it to my class?

A: Similar to a concert ticket class bookings are non-refundable an non-transferrable but if you cannot make it feel free to send a friend in your place!

Q: What is a Chef's Table?

A: A seated dinner hosted by local chefs and food industry experts. You will be treated to an elevated eating experience in an intimate family-style setting at The Local Kitchen. These evenings are for chefs to express themselves through a thoroughly planned menu and because of this they will not be able to tailor the meal for dietary restrictions. These events are not hands-on instructional but you will be educated on ingredients and flavours through eating and description.

Q: Can I book a private cooking class or event?

A: Absolutely, we love private groups. Please take a look through our event options and prices here. If you would like to proceed with a package or a la carte booking please fill out the form on the bottom of the private events page. We take a 50% non-refundable deposit to hold the date and the remainder is due one week in advance of your event.

Q. Can I bring in my own alcoholic beverages if I'm willing to pay corkage?

A. Our liquor license does not allow for this arrangement but we are licensed and stock at least 4 wines and 5 types of beer that are available for sale during classes. If there is something specific you want or if you want wine that is specifically paired by a sommelier for your menu we are happy to bring it in for you! We charge a $25 - $50 stocking fee and will need to know how much you want and have it pre-paid.

Q. Do your prices include gratuity?

A. We do not expect or prompt for tips for drink service at your event. However, if you feel the chef at your event went the extra mile to answer questions and make your experience above average, please feel free to tip them whatever you feel is justified. We may also occasionally have a tip jar to collect donations for a charity of choice and this is absolutely optional.
