In this truly Saskatchewan camp we’ll explore different aspects of agriculture and growing your own food. Campers will start the day with a brief lesson on local ingredients and then put the farm-fresh ingredients to use in delicious dishes. Topics covered will include an all-Saskatchewan line-up of grains and pulses, meat and protein, veggies and herbs as well as cherries and berries.
The group will embark on a mid-week field trip to see some local food being grown at the Askiy garden (https://www.chep.org/program/askiy-project-urban-ag/). The young chefs will learn about this important urban agriculture initiative and spend some time helping tend to the garden and picking fresh herbs and veggies to use back at the kitchen.
